"John Carpenter's The Thing" (1982, 109 mins), starred Kurt Russel, Wilford Brimley, Keith David, Donals Moffat, Richard Masur, David Clannon, Charles Hallahan, Joel Polis, T.K. Carter, Richard Dysart, Thomas G. Waites, and Peter Maloney. It was written by Bill Lancaster and directed by the famous horror movie director, John Carpenter. This Scifi-Horror-Suspense film involves a parasitic alien that can assimilate and imitate other lifeforms. The themes are apocalypse and paranoia. The film didn't do very well at the time, primarily because E.T.: The Extraterrestrial, and Blade Runner came out in theaters at the same time. It's remembered today for it's scariness and the excellent special effects for the time.
